Artist Statement
For this project I was given Cienna as a subject. The color for the piece was a difficult one to pick out, but ultimately I settled on a wine red color. Red is a color for passion, strength, and more specifically wine red can be shown as a sign of luxury. I thought this color would be fitting as Cienna always has a lot of gold jewelry on, which typically would make one think of luxury. In addition to the color, I added cheetah print and hibiscus flowers to the piece. Both of these elements I pulled from her instagram, as she can be seen wearing leopard print on multiple occasions and seems to love going to the beach hence the tropical flower. To further add to the underlying beach vibe, I added hot glue dots around the piece to mimic water to give a hint at the ocean. My goal with the piece was to ger across Cienna’s chill and go with the flow energy.
